Golf Tournament Raises Funds and Hope for People Living with Mental Illness
There’s no such thing as a slow day at the Ontario Shores Foundation.
We constantly build from one year to the next to raise funds and support the hospital and the patients who rely on the vital services provides here at Ontario Shores.
One such opportunity to raise funds was the Roger Anderson Charity Classic (RACC), which celebrated its 20th anniversary on June 8. It was a fantastic day of sunshine, sportsmanship and golf.
However, this is no regular day on the greens or chance to enjoy the beautiful June weather in Canada. Again this year, the Ontario Shores Foundation has been one of three beneficiaries of the tournament. This year’s event raised $403,000.00 for its charity recipients.
Every dollar donated helps provide crucial resources that support Ontario Shores and drive forward our vision, mission and values. In 2016, we released our Donor Impact Report highlighting some of the key ways fundraising and philanthropy support the hospital and what we’ve been able to accomplish together.
The child and youth programs are a key priority for Ontario Shores and provide dynamic, timely access to mental healthcare for youth in our community. At the Transitional Aged Youth Clinic (TAY Clinic) many opportunities are provided to give youth the best treatment options available and provide youth with the groundwork for a bright future.
The Prompt Care Clinic provides cares for those who require timely access to psychiatric services, but do not require an emergency department visit. A psychiatrist and nurse or social worker provides clinical assessments and a care plan for follow-up.
Philanthropy is at the heart of what we do; our partnerships provide better care for our patients and lead the way in mental healthcare. Events like the RACC help support the hospital and care for the patients who rely on these vital health services.
In July we look forward to sharing more conversations about hope and recovery with our annual Mental Health Conversation Luncheon taking place Wednesday, July 26 at Deer Creek Golf and Banquet Facility in Ajax. Join us in the conversation about mental health and keep inspiring hope and recovery.
